Dining Out- Week of February 14th, 2005

Sala da Pranzo
Milwaukee- Hampshire at Oakland
Gnocchi Con Gorgonzola
Gnocchi with gorgonzola, spinach and a cream sauce.
Perfectly al dente gnocchi in the piquant cheese and rich sauce.
Décor: Very comfortable space with yellow walls, splashes of color added by fabric and mismatched tables spaced roomily about.
Service: Just great.

Range Line Inn
Mequon
Grilled Salmon
Fork flake apart tender with just the right amount of light seasoning. Very enjoyable. Nice side of homemade brocolli slaw.
Décor: The quaintness that comes from a place built in 1840
Service: As you’d expect from a high end place.

Pauline’s
Okauchee
Blueberry Pancake
Good enough to make it on my favorites list. The golden patty had a bit of crisp to it with a well cooked mildly sweet batter containing a respectable quantity of unbroken blueberries.
Décor: Like eating in a basement rec room; and I got a kick out of that. Dark paneling, wagon wheel lights, Lions club items on the walls, simple tables.
Service: He takes the order and cooks it. Pretty sure that wasn’t Pauline…

Goodharvest Café
Waukesha
Hot Couscous Salad
Roasted Eggplant w/ Carrot and Feta Sandwich
I’ll rate these together, since they gave the same impression. Great variation of textures and fresh; yet mild in taste. I think the sandwich was steep at five bucks. At least it was healthy!
