My Creations- Mother's Day Brunch, 5/8/05

Cinnamon Swirl Bread (made Friday night)

Category: Bread
Rating: Very Good

A super bread with a great crust/crown. Moist with that sweet and alluring sugar/cinnamon swirling around.

Baked Banana Doughnuts

Category: Bakery
Rating: Good

Unique recipe tasted like banana bread, with a tighter texture.

Oven Baked French Toast

Category: French Toast
Rating: Excellent

Using the above bread and a batter made of half and half, egg, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar made the saturated bread a rich, almost custardy, morning delight.

Italian Sausage and Potato Casserole

Category: Casserole
Rating: Very Good

Using a Sandy D'Amato recipe it is no surprise this is a winner. The two layers are alternated three times. One layer made by sautéing bulk Italian sausage into a patty, the other is potatoes, Spanish onion, olive oil and seasoning.

Oven-Roasted Carrots

Category: Side
Rating: Very Good

A super easy accompaniment. Baby carrots, onion, garlic, thyme and olive oil.

Coffee-Toffee Ice Cream Tart

Category: Pie
Rating: Very Good

On her second piece Mom said if this was at a restaurant she’d go back just for it. The chocolate crust has a scattering of chopped toffee on it, then is filled with Haagen Dazs ice cream and then topped with a mixture including cream and white chocolate and finished with some more chopped toffee.

I can attest to the fact that this was a fantastic brunch. And the pie was to die for! Yes, I did have two pieces and I'm not sorry for it. Meal was evenly spaced with time in between each course to settle the last forkfuls of each. Chez Jason does it again!

Thanks Jason!
Love, Mom

The roles got to be switched when I mothered Mom and told her to put her fork down and take a breath!
