Dining Out- Week of August 29th, 2005

The Kiltie Drive-In
Oconomowoc

Hamburger
With my condiment choices of ketchup, lettuce, pickles and fried onion. Mustard, tomato and mayo also available.

What a magnificent and delectable assembly. This is a perfect example of ‘a sum of its parts’. Juicy patty, pillowy bun, curls of crisp lettuce, dripping onions and those pickles. You usually think of a burger pickle as 1/8 inch thick. Look at these substantial ones. A indication of the seriousness of this delicious burger.

Mellowmint Sundae

Great recommendation from the young lady. Refreshing mint and hot fudge with quite acceptable creamy light vanilla taste custard.

Décor: Carports, neon sign, Scotch lanterns, menu boards…what more can you ask for.
Service: Cheery carhop.

Maxwell’s Restaurant
Brookfield

Oriental Chicken Salad
Marinated chicken breast, lettuce, pea pods, water chestnuts, sweet peppers, mandarin oranges, wonton chips and sesame seed dressing

You’d think with all these ingredients it would have a lot of taste. And the chicken tasted funky and had an unpleasant dense texture to boot.

Banana Cream Pie

Bummer. Had an off-flavor.

Décor: Lots of knick knacks.
Service: Chipper but a tad slow paced.
