Dining Out- Week of March 28th, 2005

Cold Stone Creamery
Delafield location
In February Cold Stone started offering a new monthly flavor. I think this is good for the consumer for new flavors, and good for Cold Stone to generate traffic/revenue with a limited edition product. In March it is Cotton Candy so I enjoyed:
Crazy Crackling Cotton Candy Concoction
Cotton candy ice cream with rainbow sprinkles, marshmallows and strawberry pop stones
Side story: A couple walks in and she asks the guy, “Have you been here before?” He replies, “No, is it a regular ice cream shop?” I smile and interrupt, “This is like a regular ice cream shop like a Ferrari is like a regular car.”
Cakes While-U-Wait
Pewaukee
A deceiving name since besides those creative creations she has a full selection of donuts, Danishes, turnovers, fritters, cookies and more. I chose a hefty Orange Raisin Scone. Decent- moister than your usual arid versions, with that acidic orange flavor countered by an iced topping.
Plaza Garibaldi Mariscos Seafood
Waukesha
Chips, Salsa and Empanadas
A great way to start the meal.
Mojarra A La Veracruzana
Tilapia sautéed with tomatoes, onions, peppers, mushrooms, pimento and chunks of pineapple
The fish on its own is mild, but mixed up with everything; at times wrapping in a tortilla; created a medley of flavors and bursts of different perceptions. I would definitely recommend this place- real Mexican with a long captivating menu showcasing only seafood including whitefish, tilapia, catfish, octopus and shrimp
Décor: 360 degrees of wall sea murals, mural ceiling of clouds and an open kitchen.
Service: Attentive.

Calhoun Station
New Berlin
Lasagna
Found that Monday-Thursday they don’t have their regular lunch menu, only the daily special. So we had no choice on entrees. It was average- a tad on the greasy side with the ricotta being the best source of enjoyment.
Décor: Effort at a railroad motif in a somewhat welcoming environment that was freezing.
Service: Nice ladies.
